Winchburgh Community Growing Group secured 420 trees to plant in 2019.  March 2020 some of the trees where about to be planted then a national lockdown left the trees without a home.  The community of Winchburgh kindly reached out and adopted most of the trees with a new home and have caringly looked after them throughout the seasons.  In March 2021 a handful of the trees could be planted with small groups allowed out.  The winter of 2021 is the time to plant trees while they are dormant so the full Winchburgh Community can come together to create a full size woodland - What's more a further 485 trees have been secured for anyone who missed out on adopting a tree but would still like to plant!  Get involved as each tree will be tagged and marked to ensure you can visit the tree forever. If you can't make it along to plant this time and extra 420 will be available for the next planting event in 2022 meaning over 1,000 trees planted by the community!

When?

Saturday 11th December 2021 @ between 11am - 2pm (Due to 150 households arriving)

Where / How?

Auldcathie Park Community Woodland (starting at WCGG gazebo area) Head to Zac & Co coffee where you will see volunteers in hi-vis - Please bring a mobile phone with QR reader so you can plant your tree and log it was you and it's location in the new woodland. Here you will scan the QR poster then head to the tree collection area, don't forget your string!  Next, head over to the planting area where you will see canes with bright paint on, these are for trees collected.  If you are bringing your own tree look out for canes with coloured tape, these are holes dug for you to plant.  Spades are available on site and are marked with coloured tape and will not be allowed out of the planting area.  Plant your tree, log all the details, take a picture and the system will log where your tree has been planted - Submit your form and your tree is logged forever - If you are planting more than one tree, keep on logging!
