On Monday 10th December Winchburgh Community Growing Group kindly accepted a donation of £150 from Thomas Brown Funerals.
Kirsty had heard of the community project and had noticed the planters popping up across Winchburgh and wanted to help out.
We know Kirsty and colleagues are delighted to have been able to help us continue with our vision to deliver free fresh food for all of the community to enjoy.
We decided to use the money to help install two new community planters and have added a plaque on each of the sponsored planters located on Niddry Road.
Our young volunteer Blair got to pick which edibles he wanted to grow and picked well! -Including two thronless blackberry bushes, red currant and a cherry plum mirabelle (the tall stick is a bit of tree, nice touch Blair!)
More food was added in the BIG spring plant out of 2019 which now feature loads of lettuce to pick by leaf, fruit bushes and beetroot!
The cheque was presented from Kirsty to WCGG's co-founder John and one of our keen active volunteers, Sarah.
Winchburgh Community Growing group are really thankful for this kind donation from a local business and are excited for the future of growing.
