20th July was a huge milestone for Winchburgh Community Growing Group and everyone involved in making it happen. It was exactly 50 years since man walked on the moon and another giant leap for the project - Planter 50!
One BIG day...
π Vivian gave a speech at 1pm to thank all of the volunteers for helping us make the milestone and provided handmade lavender biscuits!
π Penny Lochhead attended to see what was only a discussion 12 months ago become a reality.
π Sebastian Kobelt made special chocolates to mark the occasion which had two flavours: mint and lime & Rosemary and honey! π Calvin (secretary) worked hard to build, install and plant the planters at the golf club late on Friday night to ensure they where all ready for the big day! He was back on Saturday championing the WCGG T-shirt and helped to ensure the event ran successfully.
π Helen-Jane Shearer from
Konect Magazine was keen to chat over the project and meet everyone - Look out for a write up in a new edition coming soon! π John was thrilled to see the 50th planter come to fruition and celebrate with delicious cake!
We hope if you managed to attend you enjoyed celebrating - Great to see new faces and more people wanting to help volunteer with the growing project!
The red tape was cut by Diane Calder, councillor for Winchburgh and Blair one of our young volunteers.
John Pritchard was also first to try out the seated planter and also gave a speech to thank everyone involved.
The golf club now have a seated planter and special corner planter for anyone to enjoy while at the clubhouse!
