Armistice Day was commemorated in Winchburgh today on the 11th November at the 11th hour to remember all the lives lost in WWI and WWII. "Let's think of the ones who left their families, their houses, walked through Niddry Road, waved a last goodbye and never came back home." said Rev Marshall.
A well attended ceremony at the War Memorial, despite the rain, brought us all together, including Margaret, who in between sips of the cup of tea at the St Philomena's Church Hall, shared her story... She moved to the village just a few years ago after husband passed away. 'People here are so nice, they welcomed me with open arms' said Margaret, so she has never looked back. She brought pictures of her dad sergeant Herbert Harbour, who fought in the WWII as part of the Royal Artillery, but sadly was killed in Libya in 1942 only at the age on 28, leaving wife and children behind.
She remembers them, we remember them.
We were humble to be part of the ceremony and to have our wreath at the memorial in honour of so many people who lost their lives during WWI and WWII.
Lest We Forget
